Arlo, recognized as San Diego Magazine’s Best Hotel Restaurant for 2025, is seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join our award-winning culinary team. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to one of San Diego’s premier dining destinations and support a culture of culinary excellence.

Position Summary
The Sous Chef will play a key leadership role in supporting the Chef de Cuisine in all aspects of kitchen operations. This includes overseeing daily meal periods, maintaining seamless kitchen flow, ensuring consistency in quality and presentation, and upholding the highest standards of food safety and sanitation. Starting salary $68,640.00

Responsibilities

You will lead and mentor culinary team members, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.

Ensure smooth operations during all meal periods with consistent execution.

You are responsibility for exceptional quality and presentation of all dishes in alignment with Arlo’s culinary vision. Assist with menu planning, seasonal specials, and innovation of new offerings.

With the Chef de Cuisine Monitor food and labor costs to support operational efficiency.

Enforce proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures. You'll support the team in training, scheduling, and performance management.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive culinary leadership experience in a high-volume, upscale restaurant or hotel.
  • Strong technical culinary skills with a passion for creativity and innovation.
  • Proven ability to manage and motivate a diverse culinary team.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards, inventory control, and cost management.
