Overview

The Steward – Kitchen plays a key role in maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and efficiency of all back-of-house kitchen operations across the resort. This position supports the culinary team by ensuring all dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment are properly cleaned, sanitized, and ready for use. You will work in multiple areas of the property, including the Employee Dining Rooms, banquet kitchens, and restaurant outlets, contributing to smooth operations throughout the day. Please note: Scheduling for this position is based on seniority and business levels. Hours may fluctuate, and during periods of lower occupancy or business activity, hours could be significantly reduced.

Responsibilities

  • Wash, sanitize, and organize all kitchen utensils, pots, pans, dishes, and glassware according to resort standards.

  • Maintain clean and organized dishwashing and storage areas in compliance with health and sanitation guidelines.

  • Operate and maintain dishwashing machines and other cleaning equipment safely and efficiently.

  • Collect and transport soiled items from outlets and banquet areas; return clean items to proper storage or service stations.

  • Support kitchen and service teams in the Employee Dining Room and resort outlets by ensuring timely supply of clean service items.

  • Assist with deep cleaning tasks such as floor scrubbing, hood filter cleaning, and storage organization.

  • Follow proper procedures for chemical use, PPE, and waste disposal, including recycling and composting.

  • Report equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or maintenance needs promptly to the supervisor.

  • Collaborate with culinary and stewarding team members to ensure smooth service and back-of-house efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Previous stewarding, dishwashing, or kitchen experience preferred; training will be provided.

  • Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and safety.

  • Ability to work well under pressure and maintain a positive, team-oriented attitude.

  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on business needs.

  • Must be reliable, punctual, and able to follow direction.


Physical Requirements

This role is physically demanding and requires stamina and attention to safety.

  • Must be able to stand and walk for the majority of the shift (up to 8–10 hours).

  • Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and twisting while loading/unloading dish machines and cleaning.

  • Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs regularly (racks, pots, trays, equipment).

  • Must be able to climb stairs or use ramps to transport items between outlets.

  • Work conditions include exposure to heat, humidity, steam, cleaning chemicals, and noise in kitchens and dishwashing areas.

  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, aprons, and slip-resistant shoes.
