Overview

The Banquet Manager is a pivotal leader responsible for the flawless execution of banquet events, with a specialized focus on expert-level banquet setup. This role demands a hands-on professional with deep knowledge of event layouts, room configurations, and equipment handling. The Banquet Manager ensures that every event is set up with precision, runs seamlessly, and exceeds guest expectations. Responsibilities

Banquet Setup Expertise:
• Serve as the primary authority on banquet setup, ensuring all rooms are arranged with precision according to Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), floor plans, and client specifications.
• Lead the physical setup and breakdown of events, including staging, lighting, AV coordination, furniture placement, and décor alignment.
• Maintain a deep understanding of event flow, spatial design, and equipment logistics to optimize guest experience and operational efficiency.
• Train and supervise setup teams to ensure consistency, safety, and adherence to brand standards.


Event Execution & Service:
• Oversee all aspects of event execution, from pre-event walkthroughs to post-event breakdown.
• Ensure service excellence by coordinating with banquet captains, servers, and bar staff to deliver timely and professional service.
• Act as the on-site liaison for clients and internal departments during events, resolving issues promptly and professionally.


Team Leadership & Training:
• Recruit, train, and manage a high-performing banquet team, with a focus on setup specialists and housemen.
• Conduct daily briefings and setup reviews to align team efforts with event goals.
• Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.


Coordination & Communication:
• Collaborate closely with Catering Sales, Event Planning, Culinary, and AV teams to ensure all event elements are aligned.
• Communicate setup timelines, special requests, and last-minute changes clearly and efficiently.
• Ensure accurate documentation and execution of VIP setups, custom layouts, and specialty equipment needs.


Operational & Financial Responsibilities:
• Maintain inventory and condition of all banquet equipment, furniture, and setup materials.
• Monitor labor costs and staffing levels to align with event demands and budget targets.
• Uphold all safety, sanitation, and fire code regulations during setup and event execution.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2-3 years of banquet management experience in a luxury hotel, resort, or high-volume event venue.
  • Proven expertise in banquet setup and event logistics is required.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting BEOs, floor plans, and CAD layouts.
  • Familiarity with POS systems and banquet management software is a plus.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to lift and move heavy equipment and furniture as needed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time (8+ hours), often moving between event spaces, kitchens, and service areas

  • Frequent bending, lifting, and carrying items such as banquet supplies, chairs, linens, trays, and beverage containers (typically up to 40–50 lbs)

  • Ability to push/pull carts or banquet equipment, including buffets, risers, and Queen Marys

  • Climbing stairs and walking long distances across large properties or multi-level venues

  • Manual dexterity for writing schedules, setting up service layouts, and handling paperwork or inventory

  • Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments, sometimes in varying temperatures or weather conditions

  • Clear vision and hearing to inspect event setups, monitor service flow, and respond to guest or team needs quickly

  • Flexible hours and stamina to work long shifts, late nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays based on event schedules
