Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Banquets to oversee banquet operations at one of the largest and most prestigious meeting and conference centers in San Diego. This is a high-impact leadership role for a strategic and service-driven professional with a passion for excellence and a proven record of managing large-scale banquet operations. Salary range $125,000-$135,000. 

Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage all aspects of banquet and event operations, including planning, staffing, setup, service execution, and breakdown.

  • Ensure flawless delivery of events ranging from corporate conferences to upscale social gatherings.

  • Collaborate closely with Sales, Culinary, and Conference Services teams to exceed client expectations.

  • Maintain high standards of guest satisfaction, employee performance, and operational efficiency.

  • Recruit, train, and lead a team of banquet managers, captains, and servers.

  • Manage scheduling, inventory control, and cost containment strategies.

  • Uphold safety and sanitation standards in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 -10 years of progressive leadership experience in banquet or event operations, preferably within a high-volume hotel, resort, or convention center.

  • Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

  • Strong leadership presence with a hands-on management style.

  • Ability to manage multiple large-scale events simultaneously with precision and poise.

  • Knowledge of event service software (e.g., Delphi, Opera, or equivalent) is a plus.

  • Flexible schedule availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.

  • Experience working with a collective bargaining agreement helpful.
